Better School Food Internship and Volunteer Opportunities

Better School Food has a number of volunteer opportunities for individuals and student interns who care about food and the planet. Ongoing volunteer and internship opportunities are flexible and tailored to meet the interest and abilities of participants.

Media and Communications
Gain valuable experience working with Dr. Susan Rubin, founder of BSF, and other board members on research and ideas for the BSF quarterly newsletter and website.

Special Event Planning
Assist the BSF board with the planning and promotion of important educational programs and workshops for parents, educators, and children. Last year's programs in Westchester County, NY included a "School Food and Fitness for Life" conference for school superintendents and decision makers at the Stone Barns Center; a "Taste and Talk" at Sunraven, and "Schools Open: Do you know what your children are eating?" attended by parents and other community members. Future events to be involved with include screenings of the documentary film "Two Angry Moms", an educational workshop for teachers, and a program designed to engage preschool administrators and teachers in issues around school food.

Program Development, Fundraising, and Grant Writing
BSF is in a great position to apply for foundation, corporate and other nonprofit funding opportunities. We need volunteers to research, write and apply for grants.
